About Us
Streetside Showers is a mobile-shower service based in McKinney, TX which provides hot showers, clean undergarments, and hygiene kits to individuals experiencing homelessness in North Texas and Florida. Our mission is “to offer hope and help restore human dignity to the homeless community in the form of a hot shower and personal hygiene care.” We are dedicated to providing basic human needs, restoring human dignity, and improving the quality of life for our unhoused neighbors.
Besides providing hot showers, we also help the homeless by handing out: soap, lotion, hand sanitizer, feminine products, and other hygiene care items. Our shower service is personal since we take the time to develop a relationship with each one of our guests. After each guest takes a shower, we supply them with socks, underwear and a hygiene kit so they have all the essentials they might need while we serve other communities.
In 2020, we launched Streetside Closet, a 17ft converted U-Haul, so we can provide clothes at some of our shower sites. A year later, we added a second box truck so we now have two Streetside Closet vehicles that can service different communities at one time. In addition to clothes, we recently launched Streetside Table. This is a fully equipped canteen truck that we bring to some of our shower sites to provide a hot meal for our guests. In 2022, we plan to introduce Streetside Kitchen, a full service food truck, so we can make and distribute hot meals at our shower locations.
Since we started Streetside Showers in June 2017, we have provided over 20,000 showers. We service approximately 150 individuals each week.
How to Help
Sign up to volunteer at a site near you! Our volunteers, also known as Shower Valets, help the homeless of our community by handing out hygiene kits and cleaning showers between each guest. Most importantly, you get a chance to create a relationship with your unhoused neighbors.
